Grateful Goodness
For those in our community who don’t have access to the safety of a place to call home, let alone a kitchen or pantry, Gate to Garnish is proud to work in partnership with local homelessness relief programs, to provide dehydrated fruit to people sleeping rough.
We call this social impact project, Grateful Goodness.
In October 2022, Gate to Garnish commenced a pilot of our innovative food distribution philanthropy program 'Grateful Goodness'. Grateful Goodness provides all natural, nutritious dehydrated fruit and citrus for our most vulnerable, in particular those sleeping rough. Our weekly delivery of dehydrated pears, apples and bananas are distributed through a local community food relief program, based at St Andrews Church, on Jetty Rd, Glenelg, South Australia.
Our dehydrated fruits are packed into small paper snack bags and given out, with feedback from the people we support saying 'the fruit tastes wonderful and is such a great alternative snack to lollies etc', Lyn, the relief coordinator states " having no preservatives is a bonus for all, and that each week, approximately 30 bags of dehydrated fruit are given out."
"Our dehydrated fruit is also used in the cakes served at both lunchtime and for evening meals, bringing an intense and enjoyable flavour," added Lyn.
After a 2-month trial period, we had donated over 60kg of dehydrated goodness. As a result of the demand and popularity of our Grateful Goodness goodies, we have extended this program as an ongoing commitment, to play our small, yet impactful part in providing free, high quality nutritious food. As at April 2024, over 200kg of dehydrated fruits have now been distributed.
We are able to deliver this project, through your generous support of us.
Proceeds from every Gate to Garnish product sold, contribute towards the costs for us to deliver this project, we’re starting local, with big plans for growing global, for your investment in us and our most vulnerable, we are truly grateful.
